Romans 13 Song
I've just finished recording and mixing "We Belong to the Day," my Romans 13:11-14 song. It's now uploaded to DistroKid, awaiting approval from my distributor and delivery to the various streaming stores. I've scheduled it for release on September 25th, so not next Friday, but the week after.
One thing I consider as I muse over these verses is the perspective of salvation as described by Paul here. He says, "the day of salvation will soon be here." I think I tend to think of Christian salvation as a thing that has happened in a believer's past, but at least in this instance, it should also be thought of as a future event: the day Christ returns to save us from the fallenness of this world.
Another interesting directive: that we should choose to remove our dirty "clothes" of bad deeds, and instead put on the shining armour of right living. This isn't a passive directive. We're not being told, hey, you're going to change now that you're God's child. There's an active aspect to it as well. We consciously decide to behave in the right manner.
It's often a challenge to choose to behave correctly. It's an effort to not think about ways to indulge our evil desires. But we should make that effort, so that we can live decent lives for all to see!
