"Hineni" - Send Me

YouTube video cover for
🎤 Psalm 40 Song

Today I watched Jordan B Peterson interview Charlie Kirk last September, 2025. What a moving conversation, and poignant in light of current circumstances and both of their absences from the public forum.

This particular clip struck me the hardest, there's just something about their exchange here that is somehow both confrontational and gentle... I guess for one thing, it's not often Jordan Peterson gets derailed from his assumptions... I like the guy, but he's not the best at listening.

But Charlie drives it home: there's an important word used seven times in the Old Testament: hineni. It means "here I am," and it was used by Moses before the burning bush, Abraham with the binding of Isaac, and Samuel when God is calling out to him at night. Of course, we all remember Isaiah's response, "Here am I; send me!"

Although they each were in very different situations, each of them expressed an openness to put themselves in God’s hands--even before they knew what He would ask of them.

This is my cry too: God, I am YOURS. I am Your obedient vessel. Use me, mould me, make me. My arms are out.
