A Beautiful Day
Yesterday was such a lovely, warm, autumn day!
First, our church service was very moving. The Spirit could be felt so tangibly! The message from our pastor was wonderful, and during our times of singing the congregation lifted their voices to praise our heavenly Father. It was wonderful!
After the service, we had Lucas (who played drums Sunday), and his wife Sorieda for lunch. After filling up on roast beef, we all went for a polar plunge at Gould Lake. Even Rosie came along for a swim. It was frigid, but so refreshing!
Then we returned to the church for a meeting; Joanne and I are starting a new "Newcomer's Team" because our church is growing so quickly! We had about twenty people come to participate. We're hoping our efforts will mean that newcomers will no longer slip through the cracks. We are trying to become more intentional at connecting with them, and welcoming them, holding a monthly "newcomer's lunch," and more.
After that I attended the first meeting of a new men's small group. We had a great conversation about the difference between faith and belief. It was a good conversation, with open dialogue and support.
Finally, we crashed in front of the television to watch the Toronto Blue Jays win their fourth game against the Seattle Mariners.
