The Challenge of Creating Scripture Songs

I love the challenge of turning scripture into beautiful music. First, I must analyze and study that scripture's internal cadence, looking for beats and internal rhymes (if there are any), and then I break it into verse form. I play with melody, looking for a way to enhance the meaning of the song, and add chords to influence the song's tone. Finally, while recording and performing the song, I consider the arrangement, so the song has good forward motion. It's a creative and spiritual outlet for me, that keeps me motivated to get out of bed in the morning.
