Back At It

Hey friends, can you believe summer is over? I'm struggling accepting it. We get such a short season of warmth in Canada, relatively speaking. It's sad to note that the evenings are already getting chilly. I'm back into the "teaching-music" role, and although I do enjoy it, it takes a bit of adjusting to not have my afternoon and evenings free to do whatever I want.

We did have a lovely break though! Joanne and I wrapped up our vacation by camping in a few different places and relaxing around the house. We made use of a website called "Hip Camp" to find a nice spot to set up our tent one evening. The fire-ban was lifted, so we enjoyed sitting around the fire with our books, sleeping, and chatting. We also took our mini camper to a friend's property for a couple of nights earlier in the week. We set up in a spot that looked out over a lake. We swam, canoed, and rested.

I wonder how your summer went? Did you get a chance to break up your routine at all?

Right at the start of my week off, I got the sense God was reminding me that one doesn't necessarily feel energized and recharged by simply changing routine. Instead, I tried to be a bit more intentional to find my rest in Christ. We took the opportunity to attend a Bible study we don't normally go to. I read my Bible a bit more, and tried to meditate on Him more than I usually do.

On the Friday of our week off, we had the opportunity to lead worshippers to the throne room. We were asked to sing at Wesley Acres, a local Christian campground, and we enjoyed sharing some of my scripture songs, as well as better-known worship songs.

Sorry for the rambling nature of this post, but that's what's been going on with me. God is still working on my heart to be more like him, to be gentler, more loving, less selfish. It's sure a challenge! Pray that He continues to work in me and grows me up to be a good ambassador for the Kingdom!
