1 Corinthians 13 (Love) (5:07)

by Jason Silver

Lyrics

If I speak in the tongues of men or angels
But have not love,
I am only a noisy gong or clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy,
Understand all things,
Have a faith that can move the mountains
But have not love,
I am nothing.

If I give all I possess to the poor,
And I give my body so I may boast,
But have not love-
I gain nothing.

Chorus:
Love is patient, love is kind
Does not envy, does not boast,
It is not proud.
Is not rude, no selfishness,
Not provoked, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
Rejoices with the truth,
Always protects, and trusts, and hopes, and perseveres,
Love never ends.

If there are prophecies,
They will be set aside.
Tongues will be stilled,
And knowledge will pass away.
For we know in part, and prophesy in part,
But when perfection comes
The partial will disappear.

When I was a child, I talked and reasoned
Just like a child.
When I grew, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
Now we see a reflection as a mirror,
But then, face to face.
Now I know in part, then I shall know fully,
Like I'm fully known.

And now three remain, they're faith, hope and love-
And now three remain, they're faith, hope and love,
But the greatest of these is love.

Love is patient, love is kind
Does not envy, does not boast,
It is not proud.
Is not rude, no selfishness,
Not provoked, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
Rejoices with the truth,
Always protects, and trusts, and hopes, and perseveres,
Love never ends.
