Who would have believed what we just heard?
To whom has the arm of the Lord been shown?
He grew like a tender shoot, like a root out of dry ground
He had no form or majesty
To make us take special note of him,
Nothing in his appearance
That we should desire him
He was despised and rejected,
A man of sorrows, acquainted with grief
People hid their faces; and we don't esteem him.
Surely he has borne our grief
And surely he's carried our suffering
Yet we saw his suffering and thought God had stricken him
But he was pierced for wrong we did
And he was bruised because of our sin
He endured punishment and
Because of his wounds, we're healed.
We all, like sheep, we have wandered,
Each of us turned off, to his own way,
The Lord laid on him the iniquity of us all
He was oppressed
He was afflicted
Yet he did not open his mouth
Brought as a lamb
Led to the slaughter
Or as a sheep for her shearers is dumb
He did not open his mouth
Oppression and judgment was led away
And none of his generation complained
Cut off from the land of living; for us, he took our sin
He was assigned a sinner's grave
Yet, with the rich was his body laid
He had done nothing wrong, and
There was no deceit in him
It was the Lord’s will to crush him
And cause him suffering, an offerring for sin
And the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand
He was oppressed
He was afflicted
Yet he did not open his mouth
Brought as a lamb
Led to the slaughter
Or as a sheep for her shearers is dumb
He did not open his mouth
He shall see the anguish of his soul and be satisfied
By his knowledge my righteous servant shall justify
The many, bearing their iniquities
Therefore, I'll divide him a portion with the great
And he shall divide the spoil with the strong
Because he poured out his soul to death
And was numbered with the sinners
Thus he bore the sin of many
And made intercession for transgressors
He was oppressed
He was afflicted
Yet he did not open his mouth
Brought as a lamb
Led to the slaughter
Or as a sheep for her shearers is dumb
