Well Said
Thanks Perry,
Very well said. You’re right that it’s easy to mistakently love the gift more than the giver, and I appreciate you reminding us to keep our focus. The senior pastor at our church talks of something he calls the ‘Theology of Orange Juice.’ It goes something like this, (though far more eloquently): all things are to bring glory to God, so even when drinking orange juice we can say, “Thanks God, for this excellent juice! You’ve created it for my enjoyment, and it’s a testament of your power, love and grace.” I guess I’d call it a “Theology of Pipe Smoking,” but the idea is the same. I want to give God glory in everything I do— to find some way to worship in each moment, especially as I find myself enjoying something in this world our God has created.
Keep writing, and sign me up for that newsletter!

From The Churchwarden
Greetings to Jason, and to all of my other Canadian readers who apparently found The Churchwarden through Jason’s site. I appreciate everyone’s kind comments, and give all glory to God for them. Although the pipe may be our common interest (that and fly fishing), what really unites us is the blood of Jesus. He will be with us forever—long after we have caught our last trout or smoked our last puff of tobacco. May our enthusiasm for God’s good gifts never get in the way of our love for his greatest Gift.
Your’s in Christ,
Perry S. Fuller

New ICON for BLOG
What do you think of my new icon? I made it to look similar to blogger’s, it has the four letters hidden within it, it’s got a picture of a person talking to another person… I think it’s kinda cool!

Finished
OK, I’m finished the pop subscribe feature! COOL! I’m putting it up for sale in two days. Look for it Monday for $24.95. If you buy it now, I’ll sell all the plugins including this PopCheck script for $14.95, so you save $10. It’s worth it!

Plugins - Mail Unsubscribe/Subscribe
I’ve been continuing to work on the unsubscribe and subscribe by email script, and I’ve FINALLY made headway! I predict that in a week or two it will be ready, unless I get really busy with my real job.
What’s cool is that this has opened a whole new bag of possibilities for me. I’m planning on writing and releasing a Blog Mail script, which will allow people to post to my blog from their email client. This is perfect for me to write to blogs from my pocket pc when I’m away from an Internet connection. When I sync up, my latest blogs will be saved to the server.
I plan on making the subject line of the email to be the control line, with something like "Blog: path/filename". The script reads emails from any pop account, looking for the word ‘blog’ at the front of the subject line. Then it takes the body of the email and saves it to the path specified.
Cool!

Valentine’s Music
Wow, it’s amazing. We’ve been working on this Valentine’s Day Event since… well, I guess it’s been since September. It’s finally here, and it’s going quite well! Today was the first of two dress rehearsals, and Friday night and Saturday night are the event nights. How fun!
It’s very funny to see people dressed up in clothes from the seventies, singing songs from the seventies. The guy we have playing ‘John Denver’ looks just like him! The Village People look great too, dressed in their various costumes. I’ll try to put some photos up of this event for those interested.

Sync Software
I have found about three or four programs which have the potential to be really useful in syncing my Pocket PC with the Internet… I want to make changes to files and see them reflected on this web site. Unfortunately, not ONE of them works! Talk about buggy software. Anyone know of a good solution here? Anyone!? ![]()

Smoking and Etc.
I was looking at long-stemmed pipes this evening… I’d like to find a churchwarden pipe with a not-so-round bowl that costs about $30-$50. Ok, ok, so maybe this is Wizard of Middle Earth envy, but wouldn’t it be cool to sit out under the moon with a warm pipe in hand and the smell of mild tobacco in the air?
BTW: This is the pipe I ended up buying, model 4828 Sandblast 601Z from this site: ff-pipes.com. I love the long stem of the churchwarden pipe.

Long Lost Friend
Hi, Jason! I was looking at a blog by a person with the surname of Silver .. and .. drum roll … suddenly I remembered YOU and your amazing God-given talent while you were at LakeView. I did a search and, viola, here you are. I was the Secretary who bugged you, heh heh. It’s good to catch up on what’s happened in your life. Glad to see you are still on an adventure with the Lord.
Cool, but you didn’t leave an email address or anyway to contact you!

Give Away MP3s
I’m really sick of MP3.com. They’ve been giving away my mp3’s for four years, and always with promises to send me money for the downloads. I’ve never seen a cent, and they keep changing the terms of service. It ticks me off.
Anyway, I”m going to start giving my mp3s away here. Why not? There’s no Terms of Service prohibiting that like there was with Hypermart (boy am I glad I left Hypermart!). So look for my mp3’s here soon.

[home/music/song_bios] I just wrote a new song… it’s really touched me… here are the lyrics, I hope you like it. I’ll record it and put the mp3 up soon: Oh Lord You’re Merciful I love the sunshine on my shoulders
Wrote a New Song
by Jason Silver
Feel the warmth of sunny rays
I love to walk out in the evening
Feel the moonlight on my face
I love to swim out in the ocean
I love to drink from icy springs
I love to jump into a river
Just a few my favourite things
Chorus:
Oh lord, You’re merciful 4x
I love to hold on to my woman
Hold her tight, ‘cause I’m her man
I love the smile that she gives me
When I reach out for her hand
I love to see my baby laughing
I love to hear him learn to talk
Peaceful when he’s sleeping
Shaky when he walks
[chorus]
Bridge:
I don’t deserve all these blessings
I didn’t earn all this stuff
Not the workin’ or the dreamin’
Just your grace has been enough
You give me more than I can ask for
Give me less than I deserve
I owe it all to Jesus
Whom I choose to serve…
[chorus]
I love the feeling that you give me
I love to sing about your grace
I like the plan of holy living
And the spirit on each face
I love to stay up late and worship
or to get up with the sun
I love to read about your mercies
‘Cause you’re the only one
[chorus]
